On August 17, 2021, the German-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce (AHK Azerbaijan), with the support of the German Embassy in Baku, organised the Start.Up! Germany Pitch Event 2021. The three best start-ups Kekalove Adaptive, Climasel and Drop by Drop qualified for the Digital Start.Up! Germany Tour 2021 and will showcase their business ideas to German corporates and multinational firms in November 2021. The start-up Kekalove Adaptive, represented by Mr Mahammad Kekalov, was awarded as the best start-up of the contest.
The Executive Director of the AHK Azerbaijan, Tobias Baumann, and the Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Baku, Heiko Schwarz, opened the event and welcomed the eight competing start-ups, the distinguished jury and several members of the German-Azerbaijani business community. In addition to Mr Schwarz and Mr Baumann, the jury consisted of Rufat Sadigov, Head of B2B Sales at Azercell LLC, Eduard Schmitt, Country Representative of Sparkassenstiftung Baku, and Elchin Usub, Head of Office at Roedl&Partner.
Following the presentation of the pitching rules, the start-ups Climasel, Digital Expo Center, Dr. Agro, Drop by Drop, GreenEra, Insure.az, Kekalove Adaptive, and TOURP had three minutes each to present their business models and innovative products. Furthermore, they addressed the questions of the jury members. Afterwards, the jury and the public voted for the best start-ups. In addition to their participation in the Digital Start.Up! Germany Tour 2021, the three start-ups Kekalove Adaptive, Climasel, and Drop by Drop were awarded with a one-year free AHK membership and will get direct linkages to the German-Azerbaijani business community.
As a winner of the contest, Kekalove Adaptive will be also invited to the regional contest and compete with other European start-ups for a sponsored trip to the Start.up! Germany Tour in North-Rhine Westphalia (Germany) with a prize money up to 15,000 euros.
Following the award ceremony, the event was concluded with a networking dinner. The competition was held in the premises of W_Space in strict compliance with all requirements of a special quarantine regime and recommendations for safety and health measures.
